CONSTRUCTION AND PROMOTION OF AN AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY STATION IN AGOU-NYOGBO/TOGO TO HELP SMALL FARMERS I HAVE FOUNDED AN ASSOCIATION IN GERMANY FOR THIS PURPOSE:
To help small farmers in the Kpalime region'. The reasons: Manual labor is still very common in Togo's agriculture. This results in low output per hectare with mostly low yields.
A no-till drill is still needed for this. The shredding of harvest residues and subsequent incorporation alone is impossible by hand. But this would increase the humus build-up in the soil and thus the fertility.
Advice on arable farming issues is very important and is gladly accepted. The photo above was about animal pests in maize. I was able to photograph the pests and a good friend in Congo helped me to identify them and suggested treatment options.
My name is Hermann Schulze Herking, born in 1957, a state-certified farmer with training qualifications. I visited Togo for the first time in February 2020 as part of another development aid project and spontaneously decided to help the farmers there. During my last visit from the beginning of September to the end of November 2020, I first got to know the country and its people on a round trip. With the help of OCDI, the CARITAS of Togo, I was able to gain a good insight into agriculture. I can be reached, also in Africa, by phone +49 151 124 28 533 whatsapp, telegram, signal mail: herking1@t-online.de
